Together with cooperation of the private sector, the public sector is aiming to raise the skill level of Thai workers to feed the zinc die casting industry with the goal to make Thailand the centre of excellence in the area of zinc die casting in ASEAN.
To this effect, Padaeng is seeking the support of the Department of Skill Development by using its FRECH die casting machine to set up a zinc die casting workshop training programme develop the skills and expertise of workers in the zinc die casting industry.
Today (21 September 2011), Mr. Waykin Utharntharm, Chief Financial Officer of Padaeng Industry Public Company Limited and M.L.Puntrik Smiti, Deputy Director – General of Department of Skill Development, Ministry of Labour have jointly signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Zinc Die Casting Training Project with the aim to develop skills and expertise of Thai workers in the zinc die-casting industry so as to be able to produce high quality zinc die casting products with value-added. This project aims also to prepare Thailand to develop itself into a centre of excellence in the area of zinc die casting in the ASEAN region.
To this effect, Padaeng has provided a budgetary support of 800,000 Baht to the Department of Skill Development to enable the FRECH DAM80S zinc die casting machines installed at the Region 1 Institute of Skill Development, Samutprakarn Province to be used in the project and some parts of the training facility has also been renovated to ensure maximum training efficiency. This training will be provided to relevant die casting operators both of the public and private sectors. The project period will cover 4 years, starting from September 2011 to August 2015.
Being a high quality zinc producer which is in the zinc upstream industry, Padaeng has initiated and has acted as the main driver for the establishment since last October of a Centre Of Excellence (COE) to serve as a centre for cooperation of all sectors concerned such as business entrepreneurs, technical institutions and public agencies in the development of all entrepreneurs in the zinc die-casting industry which are in the midstream industry.
This development will be ensured through the enhancement of technical knowledge and the systematic transfer of technological know-how to workers within related industries to increase their skills and expertise covering mould designs, the process of zinc die-casting, product testing and analysis, etc. High quality zinc die-casting products would in turn be beneficial to the downstream industries such as the sanitary-ware, automobile parts, household-wares, toy industries by allowing them to reduce their imports of zinc die-casting products. Al entrepreneurs in related industries have provided their full cooperation to this effort and are ready to develop their competitiveness as well as to prepare for entry into the ASEAN Economic Community in 2015.
