Padaeng Industry Public Company Limited, Mae Sod Mine in Tak Province, held an activity of vetiver grass planting for soil and water conservation as His Majesty the King’s royal concept for 13 consecutive years, totalling of 2.5 million vetiver grasses, presided by Mr. Arsa Sarasin, Chairman with Mr. Francis Vanbellen, Managing Director and the honorary guests, Mr. Suttha Saiwanich, Tak Provincial Vice Governor and Mrs. Prempimol Pimpan, Deputy Director General of Royal Forest Department . The event was joined by government authorities, communities, groups of teachers and students in totaling more than 300 people on June 25, 2015. PDI used vetiver grass as the cover crop to prevent soil erosion and improve soil quality since 2003. Up to now, a totaling of 22 million vetiver grasses have been planted at the mine, making it one of the largest areas where vetiver grass is grown in Thailand. PDI received the highest honor of “The King of Thailand’s Certificate of Excellence” – for excellent support and application of Vetiver Grass from Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, during the International Vetiver Seminar #6 in Vietnam in May 2015.
