Highlights for the year 2001
- Consolidated net profits total Baht 335.50 million, an increase of 58.92% over the year 2000
- Net profits total Baht 185.50 million, on the equity method, a decrease of 42.69 % from the year 2000
- Average world zinc metal price drops 21% to USD 886 per metric ton (mt)
- Overall zinc sales volume increased by 5% to 105,697 mt
- Domestic zinc sales expanded from 72% in the year 2000 to 75% in 2001
- Sales of zinc specialty products grew from 23% to 30%
- 3,571 mt of zinc CGG 21, a new specialty zinc alloy product, is produced to respond to the growing needs of our customers
- Total zinc production reached 104,797 mt, an increase of 3.61%
- The company's liabilities were reduced by 31.04%, as a result of asset management and debt refinancing, implemented during early 2001, which transferred long term debts into Baht denominated currency and dramatically reduced the cost of interest payments
- As of December 31, 2001, total ore resources at the Mae Sot mine totaled 5,136,000 dry metric tons (dmt) @12.0% zinc content
- Testing at the flotation pilot plant resulted in successful upgrading of low grade ores from a zinc content of 8% to more than 30%, making it possible for the company to fully utilize lower grade ores
