Padaeng Industry Public Company Limited is presenting scholarships and educational materials as well as supports a lunch program, worth Bt1.5 million to students in Tak province. The presentation of the 2006 scholarships and educational materials is held at the Zinc smelter andMae Sot mine on August 1, 2006. Mr. Arsa Sarasin, Chairman of the Board of Directors, presides over the ceremony. Mr. Cherdsak Chusri, Deputy Governor of Tak province, witnesses the presentation.
Padaeng has provided financial support and promoted local development every year, especially in education as it directly benefits youngsters who will play a key role in national development in the future. In 2006, PDI offers 554 scholarships to young students in Tak Province at the primary, secondary, vocational and university levels. Asides, the company offers school uniforms, shoes and sets of stationery, in addition to Bt20,000 lunch support to each of 10 primary schools.
Furthermore, the company in cooperation with Pot Sarasin-Padaeng Foundation, presents 20 satellite educational materials, worth Bt186,590 to 7 primary schools in Tak province.
At the ceremony, Padaeng also offers Bt5,000 scholarship each to 13 outstanding students in Muang and Mae Sot district. The students are selected by teachers in cooperation with Padaeng for their good conduct, good educational performance, participation in school activities and social contributions, setting a good example for other youngsters.
Padaeng Industry Public Company Limited is the only zinc smelter in Southeast Asia, The company?s zinc mine and smelter are located in Tak province. Padaeng has been presenting scholarships and educational materials to students in different educational institutions in Tak province every year since 1987.
